If you say Malaga, you say Alcazaba. A city trip to Malaga is not complete without the Moorish fortress and palace. Don’t worry about missing Alcazaba Malaga as it is located right in the heart of Malaga, close to the port and the historic centre of the city. It was built in the 11th century and was originally a defensive structure to protect the city from incursions.

Meaning Alcazaba Malaga

The complex consists of two parts: the fortress and the palace. The fortress has an impressive entrance gate and a number of defensive towers that guarded the city. The palace is beautifully decorated and has a number of beautiful courtyards, gardens and fountains.

One of the highlights of a visit to the Alcazaba is the view of the city and the sea from the top of the fortress. There is also a museum inside the complex where visitors can learn about the history of the Alcazaba and the Moorish influence in Malaga.

The Alcazaba Malaga is a popular attraction in and can get crowded during peak hours, especially in the summer months. It is open to visitors from Tuesday to Sunday and closed on Mondays. It is a must-see attraction for anyone interested in the history and heritage of Malaga and Andalusia.
